Item Management

Feature availability

AirData now allows you to track more than just drones and batteries. With our new "Item Management" feature, you can manage all equipment essential to your drone operations, including remote controllers, payloads, chargers, and more. This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to track this equipment using AirData.

The Items Management feature is part of Asset Management, an add-on available with our Enterprise plan. To learn more about Asset Management, click here.

The new ITEMS tab

To access items, go to the "EQUIPMENT" section and select "ITEMS." You will find three tabs: "Cameras," "Remotes," and "All Other."

Tab #1: Cameras

In the "Cameras" tab, you might notice that items are already populated. Many flight logs contain the camera's serial number (SN). If the SN is present in the log, a profile for the camera will be automatically created, similar to the automatic creation of profiles for drones and batteries.

Tab #2: Remotes

The "Remotes" tab functions similarly to the "Cameras" tab. If the flight logs include the serial number of the remote controller, a profile will be automatically generated for it.

Tab #3: All Other

Items that are neither cameras nor remote controllers can be found in the "All Other" tab. These items need to be added manually.

Viewing item usage

Click on the "Usage" tab to view useful statistics, such as the number of flights the item has been associated with. To see each flight the item is attached to, click on the "Flight History" tab.

Adding an item

Click on "Add Item" to create a new entry.

Fill in the fields for the specific item you're adding. Remember, you're adding a particular item, not a general item type. For instance, if you have two SD cards, consider naming them distinctly, such as "SD Card #1" and "SD Card #2." For guidance on customizing item types, please refer to the instructions provided later.

Once saved, the new items will automatically appear in their respective categories: Cameras, Remotes, or All Other. At this point, you may also add an image if desired.

Customizing item types

To modify the fields displayed when adding a new item, or to create or edit item types, navigate to My Account -> Item Types. This page lists all the current item types associated with your account, allowing you to edit existing types or add new ones.

Editing an item type

To edit an item type, click on "Edit" next to the desired item type. This allows you to modify the fields that will appear when adding the item under EQUIPMENT -> ITEMS -> Add Item.

Adding an item type

To add a new item type, click on "Add Item Type" at the bottom of the item list. Provide a name for the item type and specify any fields you want to be displayed for this type.

Please note that there are three item types that cannot be deleted: Remote Controller, Camera, and Generic.

Adding items to flights

To associate items with flights, navigate to MY LOGS -> FLIGHTS. After selecting a flight, go to the "Equipment" tab and click on "Associate an item with this flight."

Choose the desired item from the dropdown menu.

You can add as many additional items to the flight as needed.
